I get some of my best ideas when riding my bike and listening to music my son picks for me. I don’t listen to it as much as immerse myself into it. I forget everything and feel the wind in my hair and smell the sweet air. The music at head banging volume helps me return to that invincible age of 17. The ‘serious’ cyclists scold me for not wearing a helmet and listening to music. I just shrug. It’s not the tour de France after all just a sleepy back road.
I could live on a diet of Vanilla ice cream and raspberries with sweet aged balsamic vinegar drizzled over the top. Sublime. I’ll take gelato in Italy anytime.
I’ve often dreamed and planned renting a villa in Tuscany, the Lombardi region or Capri and in fact those dreams and planning are the inspiration for my first collection.
For long languid vacation days with my children Oahu Hawaii was an absolute paradise. We visited every beach on Oahu. Some days we’d just hang out. We’d feed the sparrows at dawn; wander down to the beach or pool for a swim. Both my sons learned to swim in Hawaii. We’d take a nap and wake to watch turtles at 2 and dolphins at 4. It was an amazing vacation.
